New Blog, New Courses, New…

I have been working on this redesign since September. It is amazing how long it actually takes me to implement changes when it is just me. I used to think that my employees slowed me down, but perhaps they made me more efficient with my time. With no employees, I now do it all. I am still one website away...

Big Fabric and Trim Sale Saturday, January 26th

I have been slowly selling through the excess inventory I hauled across the United States to my new home in Florida. The last year and a half I have decided to take my business in different directions all at once. I have made a few resolutions - I will turn the focus of my business to my pattern making and...

Laurel Sports Bra Pattern Release

Laurel Sports Bra Pattern Release

Happy New Year to all. I have been busy, as always, working on new and exciting things. This new sports bra pattern is no exception. I made a new style with a few new features. The Laurel Sports Bra is no different in fit than the Christina, in fact you can interchange the pattern pieces of the Laurel with the...

End of the Year Update

End of the Year Update

This time of year is always nuts. My business is super slow and my daughter's schedule is super busy, plus trying to figure out what to get my loved ones for Christmas is just a nightmare. For a small business like mine, Christmas time is the slowest time of the year, but it is also my busiest time of year,...

Getting a Pattern Ready for Sale

Getting a Pattern Ready for Sale

As I'm trucking along in the 7th hour of putting the pattern sizes together, I keep thinking that people really don't know what it entails to get a pattern ready for release. I am hoping I'll have this pattern ready for release next week, but I still have hours left of making the sizes look good and have to update...

Release of Pattern Design: Fundamentals

Release of Pattern Design: Fundamentals

It is done and live everywhere! Pattern Design: Fundamentals is here! It has been a labor of love and I have finally given birth to my book, 5 years in the making. I feel like I can take a deep breath now, you know, before I start the next book in this series. But before I can do that, I...

Spiral Binding Do-it-Yourself

Spiral Binding Do-it-Yourself

I almost always spiral bind the drafts of my books while I'm editing, so I am often dropping by the Office Depot to get spiral binding done. Unfortunately, my Office Depot is the only office supply store in about a 10 mile radius, so they are often overworked and understaffed. For the last 4 binding projects, I had to drop...

Rachel Tank Pattern Hack: Turn it into a Dress and Make Fit Adjustments

Rachel Tank Pattern Hack: Turn it into a Dress and Make Fit Adjustments

I love to make things multi-purpose. For example, my family uses the dining room table as a place to collect all the crap in the house and my daughter uses my laundry drier to store all her clean clothes. What I love more than my family's knack for never putting anything away is things that serve a multi-purpose that is...

Pattern Release: Girls Little Rachel Brief

Pattern Release: Girls Little Rachel Brief

I technically released this pattern when I released the Little Rachel Tank, but I wanted to make a separate post about the Little Rachel Brief after the videos were released. I designed both the Little Rachels to be like the women's patterns. The main difference with the brief is the height of the brief. My daughter didn't like it coming...

Pattern Design Pre-Sales are Now Available

Pattern Design is my educational solution to teaching pattern making for beginners. I shared my collection of pattern making books in previous posts, in order to break down the good and bad elements of each book in my stash. My biggest pet peeve is when a book "tells" to you do a step without explaining "why" you do it. I...

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I have so many things I am working on and I wanted to make it a better reading experience for you. I have kept this blog up now for 6 years. It has gone from Wordpress to Blogger and now back to Wordpress. Hopefully this is to stay.

I am over ambitious at times, but my goal is to keep you updated with what my latest projects are through my blog. I occasionally post things up on Facebook and Instagram, but frankly I am way too busy to be on those things. Make sure to subscribe to my blog, which actually reminds me that I need to double check that works.
